The building is the work of Slovenian architect Bo\u017eidar Gvardjan\u010di\u010d. The site was the military headquarters of the Army of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then it became the Yugoslav National Army headquarter. It consists of seven buildings (former military barracks) with a total area of 12,500 m\u00b2, squatted since September 1993.<\/p><p>Today Metelkova is home to numerous cultural organisations, including concert venues, gallery spaces, social spaces, artists\u2019 and artisans\u2019 studios.
