“Ojo de Agua” (The Waterhole) is an interdisciplinary art project that invites deeper reflection on the meaning of water. Without it, there is no life, no tears, no flowers, no words, no knowledge. The moon rises and falls, and the tides of the sea move with it, the one outside and the one inside us. In a time of climate change and the grim pandemic afflicting our planet, the disease called greed, Julián Herreros Rivera invites us to recognise water as a life-giving force that must be treated with respect. Caring for water is caring for the heart of our existence; our future depends on our relationship with water. This is the second edition of the Ojo de Agua project, first held in Buenos Aires.
Chilean artist Julián Herreros Rivera returns to Ljubljana, where he toured last year with the musical ensemble Coral Rojo. In collaboration with local artists, he’ll lead a multi-day mural – a mural dedicated to water in Slovenia. On the opening day, the mural will also serve as a backdrop for a concert where several musicians will perform songs inspired by water.
Julián Herreros Rivera is a composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist and who has studied classical flamenco guitar as well as music composition and production. Parallel to his musical career, he also works as a visual artist.
